In May 2016, we reported on the groundbreaking of the Lowell Neighborhood Projects in Fresno—two new construction and renovation projects producing 30 new, high-quality, affordable housing units. The Lowell Neighborhood in Fresno has long been blighted, attracting rampant crime in the form of prostitution, drugs, and gang violence. At the groundbreaking, residents, neighbors, and local officials were full of excitement and hope for the new life that the construction projects would bring to the desperate neighborhood. Construction on both projects wrapped up in mid-June and today, the Fresno Housing Authority hosted the grand opening ceremony for the projects now branded Fénix @ Calaveras and Fénix @ Glenn. Where there once stood dilapidated, run-down apartment buildings now stand two beautifully-designed, craftsman-style, high-quality, affordable multifamily housing complexes complete with modern amenities.
Brown Construction, along with owner partners Shea Properties and Ivanhoe Cambridge and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, were honored at today's grand opening of Ascent Apartments. Brown Construction received high praise from the ownership group for their excellent performance on the project.
It was a day that Sacramentans on both sides of the river had long been anticipating ever since the first sightings of the confounding spaceship-shaped wood and steel frame rising from the ground just north of Highway 50 on the west bank of the Sacramento River. The grand opening ceremony of the iconic West Sacramento venue, The Barn, took place today, July 22, 2016. The Brown Construction team proudly joined owner/developer Fulcrum Property, West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, City Councilmembers, the Chamber of Commerce, and local community members to commemorate the completion of The Barn—the most unique and most challenging project that Brown Construction has had the pleasure to build.
